The true work of art is born from the “artist”: a mysterious, enigmatic, and mystical creation. It detaches itself from him, it acquires an autonomous life, becomes a personality, an independent subject, animated with a spiritual breath, the living subject of a real existence of being.
— Wassily Kandinsky

As an impressionistic Photographer Mel Hilborn thrives on creating images through the use of color, technology, and the camera.  He believes that understanding the technical aspects of photography is important like any other creative medium, however, not to be taken so seriously that ones vision is lost.  Seeing and allowing all possibilities is essential in the creative process.  Mel's vision is to create images that pull the viewer in through color, shape, and composition.  Allowing an emotional connection based on the viewers life experience.

Keeping myself open to possibilities I’ve allowed myself to see opportunities in photography and life. I believe in being true to myself, following my vision, discovering new ideas, and appreciating where it takes me.

diverse Styles

I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers.
— Claude Monet

Mel's diverse style is influenced by the color of Kandinsky and the painterly aspects of Monet.  his images are created based on the color of the season.  Summer is everything flowers, fall is about road tripping to chase the changing foliage, and winter with it's mellow palate is retreating indoors for creating abstracts.  Of course, no season is off limits to any of the other styles.  He loves to stay fresh and as you follow him you will see his diversity come to life.   Cheers!!!
